Starting late March until late May, I'll be working with Derby Dinner Playhouse in Indiana on their production of Sister Act playing Sister Mary Patrick, the role originated by Kathy Najimy in the film! I'm so pumped for this show, and I can't wait to don a habit once again! (Throwback to my first professional show, The Sound of Music playing Sister Sophia!)

Yesterday we closed our hilarious production of "39 Steps" and celebrated with some much needed R&R!
After playing catch up with many emails, text messages and errands, I found out I was nominated this year again for another BroadwayWorld Columbus Award! This time for Leading Actress in a Play for my portrayal of Leonata in Otterbein's production of Much Ado About Nothing. It truly feels so wonderful and humbling to be recognized by the theatre community in Westerville and Columbus! Go online and vote for me if you have a chance! http://www.broadwayworld.com/columbus/liveupdate2016region.cfm?btype=329®ion=Columbus#sthash.usF3SSn1.dpbs We received our first review of the show, with a nice little mention of myself portraying Professor Jordan, one of my many characters in our farce!
"Whit Leyenberger and Kayla Ryan Walsh play Clown 1 and Clown 2. Both successfully depict scores of different people at dizzying speed. My two favorites were the roles performed in drag: Ms. Walsh playing Prof. Jordan, the male Nazi spy...If you have seen The 39 Steps before and liked it, you will not be disappointed with this production. If you haven't seen it, this is a perfect opportunity to see a high-quality presentation of this classic..." Here's to another great performance of 39, and hopefully more in the future! |
